Hostex Cape offers ideal learning environment for students serious about joining industry

Students enrolled in hospitality and catering or culinary training programmes are invited to visit Hostex Cape on the final day of the show, Wednesday 10 March.

In a move designed to offer students, who represent the future of the industry, an opportunity to attend Africa's leading hospitality trade exhibition, the organisers have opened up applications to students undertaking formal training in a hospitality and catering or culinary training or hotel school, to allow them access to the show.

Exhibition director Lynn Chamier explains the rules of attendance: "Due to the fact that the exhibition is a trade show targeting decision-makers in the hospitality, catering and retail industries, it is not accessible to students. However, applications received in writing from recognised hospitality and culinary training institutions will be accepted, and these students will be granted access to Hostex Cape on Wednesday 10 March.

"We regret that we cannot allow access to students in any unrelated fields of study, or to any under 18′s."

"While we value and appreciate the fact that students will become future decision-makers, the exhibitors invest a great deal of money in product samples and promotional material, an investment which is aimed at targeting buyers with decision-making power. We trust that training providers will understand these constraints and hope that hospitality and catering students will benefit from visiting the show, while adhering to certain conditions."

Conditions of admittance to Cape Hostex 2010 for hospitality students include:

- Only students enrolled in hospitality, catering, culinary training or hotel school will be permitted access.

- Access is limited to the final day of the show, Wednesday, 10 March.

- Students should preferably attend in the uniform of the training institution, hotel school or technikon

- Students must refrain from taking product samples, brochures and bags from the organisers and exhibitors.

- No under 18′s allowed.

Should hospitality industry training institutions wish to apply for admittance for their students to Hostex Cape 2010, they can download the application form on www.hostexcape.co.za and fax it to 011 496 1161 or email lynnc@specialised.com. Applications for student group admittance close on 28 February 2010.

"We encourage students to use the opportunity as a learning experience to see the equipment, goods and services that they will be using in the future first-hand," concludes Chamier.
