The Col'Cacchio chain of 18 pizzeria restaurants, founded by Kinga Baranowska, has launched another Celebrity Chef Series, using the culinary creativity of top chefs to raise money for the Children's Hospital Trust for the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital.

The competition has a soccer theme, with each chef creating a pizza to represent the cuisine of one of the participating countries. The promotion will run from April to September 2010.

This year's participating chefs include Michael Broughton from Terroir restaurant, Nicky Gibbs from the Westcliff Hotel, Jodi-Ann Pearton from the Food Design Agency, David Higgs from Rust en Vrede, Chantel Dartnall from Restaurant Mosaic and Franck Dangereux from the Foodbarn.

Baranowska says: "We look forward to once again bringing people together from various sectors of the hospitality industry in the hope that this year we will raise even more funds and exposure for the Children's Hospital Trust and the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital."

Building on the 2009 campaign, which raised over R120 000 for the Children's Hospital Trust, the Col'Cacchio pizzeria Celebrity Chef Series 2010 will, over six months, offer diners a taste of what each celebrity chef has created.

With this year's campaign drawing attention to the upcoming soccer event, Col'Cacchio pizzeria has asked the chefs to create a themed pizza. A different chef's pizza will be on offer during each month of the promotion.

Some R5 from each of the promotional pizzas sold will go towards the charity, to help upgrade the burns unit. This ward admits over 1300 severely burned patients annually and has not been upgraded since 1956.

"This priority project will help keep the hospital on the cutting edge of medical care and continue giving sick children a fighting chance." says Louise Driver, CEO of the Children's Hospital Trust.

Baranowska adds: "Our celebrity chefs have let their creativity take over in this challenge and we look forward to the outcome. We are overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and also welcome this year some key sponsors: Parmalat, Rialto Foods, Food Store and La Marina Foods."
